Regulations made by the Executive Council for Competitions
and Matches
The Competitions and Matches promoted by the Association
(other than the Boys’ Championship) shall be confined to Members (and in the case
of the Mixed Foursomes Competitions Ladies) other than Country Members,
who are eligible to play in all competitions at their own Club.
Rules as to Ties
The Rules for the time being in force of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs shall apply in the event of
two or more competitors trying in any event except as follows:-
The Championship
In the event of a tie in the Qualifying Rounds, this shall be decided by a play-off over
18 holes stroke play on the Championship Course (or such other course as the
Officers of the Association shall decide) on the Sunday immediately following the
Qualifying Rounds. If two or more Competitors shall still be tying after 18 holes,
those players tying shall continue to play hole by hole until a decision is reached.
In the event of a Tie for the George Bell Trophy, the tie shall be decided on the
lowest aggregate score in either round; if there is still a tie, the lowest aggregate
score on the last nine holes shall decide the winner, if there is still a tie, the lowest
aggregate score on the last six holes, and if still a tie, he lowest aggregate score on
the last three holes shall decide the winner.
Unresolved ties
In the event of any tie being unresolved after applying the Rules for the time being
in force of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs or the above mentioned rules,
the winners shall be decided by card match play over 36 holes or 18 holes
according to the number originally played in the Competition, and in the event of a
further tie the match shall continue over additional holes from the first hole played
in the Competition until a decision is reached.
Disputes arising out of Competitions or Matches All disputes shall be settled by the Competition Committee
if such a Committee shall have been appointed by the Executive Council, or if no
such Committee shall have been appointed, by a Committee consisting of all
Officers of the Association present at the time such dispute shall arise, and the
decision so taken shall be final and binding on all parties concerned.
