Donnelly, a four handicapper, mastered the difficult Breightmet terrain with some ease with just
two bogies matched with two birdies to give him a flawless round.
Second place Moores notched a gross 79, two shots in front of Deane’s Alan Gorton, who finished third.
In the 55 – 65 age range, two local members Tom Campbell (nett 72) and Martin Kearns (net 73) were followed by third place Peter Warburton of Turton.

BGA Junior Championship
Played at Deane Golf Sunday 15th July 2012
Great Lever’s Ashley Williams clinched the BGA Junior Championship trophy last Sunday when he squeezed out runner-up Josh Ashton of Horwich on a card play-off after both boys produced an excellent 70 gross – four shots clear of the field.
These talented 16 year-olds battled it out on the Deane course but it was two late birdies by
Williams on the 16th and 18th which made the difference over Ashton, who was two in front at the turn but finished three over on the back nine.
Williams made his Lancashire junior debut last year at just fifteen and has played regularly for the County this season. Delighted with his win, he hopes to lower his current five handicap and step up to the senior level both within the BGA and County.
Harwood’s Ian Stirling made his last appearance in this championship and his creditable gross
74 earned him third place with James Tuck of Dunscar fourth also with a 74. Fifteen year old Michael Tunstall of Old Links shot an excellent round of 75 to finish fifth.
The best nett prize went to thirteen year old Alex Kiernan of Chorley with a 62 just one shot
better than Joe Gill of Turton in second place.
